OUR JOURNEY OF IMMERSION IN FELICIDAD ORCHARD GARDEN & ORGANICS

Our journey at the Felicidad Orchard Garden and Organics was both enriching and eye-opening. Engaging in various agricultural activities allowed us to appreciate the value of hard work, sustainability, and teamwork in farming. Each task we performed played a significant role in developing our skills and understanding the importance of organic farming.

At the start of our experience, we toured the Felicidad Orchard Garden and Organics, which introduced us to the farm's layout, plants, and sustainable agricultural practices. Seeing the different crops and organic farming methods inspired us to actively participate in maintaining the garden. Cleaning the garden was our first task, and it taught us the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for plant growth.

The hands-on activities such as harvesting sigarilyas and eggplant gave us firsthand experience in reaping the benefits of organic farming. These moments were fulfilling as we realized the fruits of careful cultivation and patience. Another essential process we engaged in was soil mixing and preparing the potting media, which emphasized the significance of healthy soil in ensuring plant growth.

One of the most challenging but rewarding tasks was planting 800 lettuce and pechay. This large-scale planting required teamwork, patience, and precision. It was fulfilling to see our hard work translate into rows of newly planted vegetables. We also learned to make organic pesticides, which highlighted the importance of sustainable and eco-friendly farming solutions. Watering the lettuce and pechay became part of our routine, ensuring the plants remained hydrated and healthy.

Maintaining the farm also involved cleaning up the surroundings, checking the lettuce and pechay regularly, and making arorong. These activities reinforced our sense of responsibility and attention to detail. Throughout the experience, we also had quizzes for UC1, UC2, UC3, and UC4, which tested our knowledge and understanding of agricultural principles. These assessments helped us reflect on our learning and areas for improvement.

Another essential activity was transplanting lettuce, which required careful handling to ensure the plants thrived in their new environment. Making substrates and resuming lettuce transplantation further deepened our understanding of plant care. Additionally, we planted Napier grass, which plays a crucial role in livestock feeding and soil conservation. Our teamwork was further strengthened as we worked in groups to prepare substrates, reinforcing collaboration and efficiency in farming tasks.

Overall, this experience at Felicidad Orchard Garden and Organics was a valuable learning journey. It instilled in us the importance of sustainable agriculture, teamwork, and perseverance. The knowledge and skills we gained will undoubtedly be beneficial in our future endeavors, whether in farming, environmental conservation, or any field that requires dedication and hard work. This reflection serves as a reminder of the lessons learned and the impact of organic farming on our environment and well-being.
